Goals Galore At Bernard Curtis Park

It was an old fashioned goal-fest at Bernard Curtis Park (BCP) this afternoon as Bosna FC came to town to put some pressure on Inchicores title bid.  For myself it was a first trip to BCP for over 10 years, the last time being in 2000 when as a player we suffered a 3-1 loss to Sandyhill Celtic.

The Inchicore Athletic of today are a well oiled machine under the tutelage of Alan O'Brien and gave their opponents no chance as they blew them away with a great style of play from the first whistle to the last.    There was a return to goal for Robbie Nolan who shook off last weeks injury and Robert Mahony also made a return to the starting XI having being unavailable for last Sundays encounter against HHFC.

It was Robert Mahony who opened the scoring with a thunderous strike from the penalty spot after 20 minutes of play.  Stephen Fay, who won the penalty, then almost doubled the lead moments later but his shot struck a post.  Ger Marshall doubled Inchicores advantage after some great lead up play from Adam Ryan.  The game as a contest was effectively ended on the stroke of half time when Adam Ryan had a shot bounce back into play off the post and straight to Darren Hennigans feet who beat  Bosnas goalkeeper with ease.

Adam Ryan then took control of the game early in the second half as he terrorised Bosnas defence with some great attacking play.  Ryan hit a post, drew a great save from the keeper and saw a great cross almost dispatched to the back of the net as Inchicore sought a fourth goal.

The fourth goal did arrive when a Ger Marshall cross was fumbled in to the back of the net by Bosnas keeper.  Marshall then added a fifth for Inchicore after Bosnas defence failed to deal with a dangerous ball into the box bringing his tally of goals to four in his last three games.

Bosna finally made an impression on the scoreboard with a late strike, however a red card straight from the resulting kick off ended their comeback as Inchicore ran out the last minutes in comfortable fashion.

Next up for Inchicore is a trip to Stanaway Park in Crumlin this coming Tuesday as they go head to head against Yellowstone Celtic in the semi finals of the Charlie O'Leary Cup.  Is there a second cup final appearance on the cards for the team this year??
