Drama Galore At Stewarts Hospital

I finally made it to my first Inchicore Athletic game, it has been a long time.  The nerves were shredded and a few fingernails chewed down to the bone as the team went right down to the wire against a very determined Galty Celtic in The Dalton Cup semi final at Stewarts Hospital in Palmerstown.

Unfortunately I missed the late drama as Inchicore came from behind in extra time and won thanks to a late, late winner.  Things were not going to plan as Galty took an early lead and looked like they would make it to half time with the lead intact.  That was until Gerard Marshall sent a wicked free kick floating into the opposition box on the stroke of half time which caused a moment of panic for the centre back.  The attempted clearance skimmed off his head and beat the goalkeeper to give 'The Core' a well deserved equalisier.

Stephan Fay then gave Inchicore the lead shortly after the interval as Galty began to wilt under the pressure being applied.  A huge crowd turned out to roar on Inchiore and things were looking safe with thirty minutes of play left.  A red card which reduced Inchicore to 10 men then turned the game on it's head as Galty found an equalisier and forced extra time.

The comeback and late winner ensured Inchicore would make an appearance in the Dalton Cup Final for the second year running.  The final will be played on May 12th at Shelbournes Tolka Park and hopefully Inchicore can make amends for last years loss to Romstar.
